Last year I participated in a life changing event, the Breast Cancer 3-Day, 60 mile walk. It was both the most exhausting and exhilarating experience of my life. I have not forgotten the spirit of camaraderie and support, the humor that carried us through our pain, and the gentle reminders surrounding us of just why we were there. I remember how my team was overcome with emotion as we passed through the throngs of supporting family and friends along the finish line. This wasn't a race, it wasn't about winning. Everyone who participated was cheered on like a champion. At the closing ceremony, we were proud to hear that our effort in the Philadelphia area alone had raised over 6 million dollars!!! Net proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust, funding important breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment.
